About My Music

Kacie Yoshida's influences date back to the master of folk music, Bob Dylan. She became obsessed with his political lyrics and ripping harmonica in Martin Scorsese's documentary No Direction Home, and soon she started covering "Blowin' in the Wind," and "Positively 4th Street," among various other Bob Dylan songs in her dorm room at Cal State Fullerton. However, long before she had ever listened to Bob Dylan she came across a rising artist on VH1's top 10 of the week--John Mayer. It was the song "Bigger Than My Body" that made her love music, and still to this day she claims that John Mayer was the reason she started to play guitar.

Of her many current influences Ben Harper, M Ward, Ben Gibbard, Jakob Dylan, Elliot Smith, Fleet Foxes, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bright Eyes, and Cat Power are her favorites. Although she hates to be compared to mainstream artists, it is Nora Jones and Cat Power that audience members have mention she sounds like.

In her free time, Kacie can be found on her balcony or in her room cranking out new songs like a never ending flow of sugar and candy.
